Word to the Oscars

Now that the aftermath (or lack there of) of the Oscars have settled in, I have a few remarks on the awards.

1. Thank you, Oscar, for being the most predictable awards ceremony this year. Seriously, Entertainment Weekly called ALL the winners. Not that they didn’t deserve the awards… but c’mon… a surprise here and there would be nice.

2. What is Hollywood trying to tell us about euthanasia? The Best Picture winner (Million Dollar Baby) as well as the Best Foreign Film winner (The Sea Inside) are both films that glorified euthanasia. Coincidence? I think not.

3. Does Hilary Swank really need two Oscars? Let’s not forget that Hilary Swank was in the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. I think that should cancel out any chances of someone winning two Oscars, but apparently I’m wrong.

4. Thank you, Oscar, for realizing The Aviator for what it truly was… which is a wonderfully visual but unbearably long movie with a delightful performance from Cate Blanchett. The awards reflected this. Gracias.

5. Please stop nominating Johnny Depp. If just for the sake of not having to look at him (who I do not find in the least attractive) and Miss Anorexia 2005 in the audience. Please, someone get her a sandwich.

I really like Hilary Swank. She’s so vibrant and I think she deserved both Oscars, …nobody likes her, though…and Annette Bening must hate her, haha. It was a given that she was going to win, if you think about it… Nobody puts Baby in the corner. I laughed when Martin Scorcese didn’t win. I was just like HAHA ON YOU. YOU ARE THE SUSAN LUCCI OF THE OSCARS.

I too think Hilary Swank deserves both Oscars. Her past films doesn’t impact the respect she now earns at all.

I am glad Clive Owen didn’t win. Not only is he ugly, he sucks in acting big time.

hilary swank should really have THREE oscars on her mantle… have we all forgotten about the cinematic masterpiece known as “the next karate kid”?

Hilary Swank was in the original “Buffy” movie? I must have repressed all memories linked to that horrible film. But I completely agree. I was bored by the Oscars this year, which happens very rarely. And I didn’t even think Chris Rock was too funny. We all heard those jokes before, maybe even the exact same jokes from when Whoopi (who was much, much better in my opinion) hosted the Awards. Oh well. Maybe they’ll be more exciting next year…
