So close, yet so far away

I don’t want Hilary Clinton to be the next president of the United States. I have several reasons. And even as someone who doesn’t call herself a Democrat I don’t want her to even get the party nomination because she’ll never get elected. I like it when each party has a fighting chance.

I’ve already made up my mind who I’m voting for. I’ll probably have to change that later when he doesn’t get the nomination from his party, but I would love him to be president.

I just think it’s crazy that this whole thing is starting already. I guess the mid-term elections really jump started it back in November. But honestly, didn’t candidates lay low until winter of the year before the elections? Primaries are like a year away, this is just crazy.

So, who would you like to see get the nomination—either party?

Word to 250 or 252

Today is possibly the 250th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Hamilton. It might also be the 252nd anniversary, but for the sake of a milestone I’m going to go with 250. Wikipedia says either 1755 or 1757. The Hamilton Historical Society says 1755, but The History Channel says 1757. Either way, this is a pretty important day and should be made into a national holiday.

I know the Nation of Emma will be celebrating. I made cake!

Word to an Unseasonably Warm Winter

So I didn’t vote today. I started writing this post about how confused I was about politics, but that’s not true. I know what’s up. I just can’t make up my mind.

I feel like if I went and voted today it would have been on a whim… just whoever I felt like voting for at the time, and it would certainly not be as informed a decision as I would hold myself to the standard of making.

One issue that I have made my mind up about is global warming. And I hate hate HATE how close-minded people can be about global warming. I have one incredibly Republican friend who tried to convince me over the summer that global warming is just pure baloney. I tried to listen to her and respect her opinion… but then I just got angrier. I mean honestly, if global warming is the big hoax most Republicans want it to be, does that really matter? Plans of action to reduce global warming can only improve the environment if they reduce pollution in the air. So even if global warming turns out to be untrue (which it won’t), it’s a win win for everyone if we make efforts to breathe cleaner air. And moreover, global warming really should be the concern of everyone. It really has nothing to do with Republicans or Democrats.

That being said, I do regret not being registered to vote and neglecting to vote today. Republican candidate Bob Corker denies the validity of global warming. I’d like to see his degree in environmental science. But no one else cares… because maybe they’ll get to meet his daughters. Well, I hope you all enjoy meeting his daughters as New York City sinks further and further into the Atlantic.
